A NARNI GRANDI CONCERTI, TEATRO E CINEMA: 7th FESTIVAL LUCI DELLA RIBALTA

Le domande dovranno essere inviate, corredate da scheda di iscrizione e documento d'identità, entro il 1 Luglio 2017 all’indirizzo mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. o tramite portali appositi.

As in the past, the 7th International Festival Luci della Ribalta, Program Schedule will have not only music as protagonist, but also arts, culture and entertainment, with seminars, exhibitions, conferences and special events.

Also, an important development this year is that the International Festival, in cooperation of Municipalities of Terni, Narni and Amelia,  will be including these cities, offering a greater audience, recognition and public participation to an event which has been in constant growth through the years.

This year the Association Mozart Italia Terni is also pleased to announce the first edition of the Luci Della Ribalta Film Fest, dedicated to Italian and International short films

In fact, this year, the internationally renowned "Luci della ribalta" Festival has decided to open up to dance, cinema and theater.

For this purpose, the section dedicated to cinema, "Luci Della Ribalta Film Fest", aims to enhance independent filmmaking, privileging young authors, new languagesand, in a particular way, the fusion of different arts especially cinema and music.

Without forgetting the musical nature of the Festival, a section dedicated to music video clips has been created, as well as the special Renato Chiesa "Music and Pictures Award", dedicated to the late composer who passed away before his time. Narni's connection with fantasy genre also inspired the creation of the "Short Fantasy" section.

From the 25th to the 27th August there will be a series of projections of short films and video clips in the numerous and suggestive locations in the medieval town of Narni. The final evening, including the award ceremony and projection of the finalist short films and video clips, will be on August 26, 2017.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT ANAÏS LEE

It is with great joy and pride, but also with trepidation, that we announce the go-ahead for the seventh edition of the Masterclasses of Narni 2017. I have many ideas and hopes for continuing to improve the quality of this festival, which have matured on the foundations of the positive experiences of years past, especially regarding the involvement and valuation of the enchanting spaces of the city of Narni, which generously hosts us.
Even if the structure of the courses will remain the same as in the previous editions, this year there will be important improvements, and the organizational work for this year’s festival has been forging ahead since January. Already 30 professors have enthusiastically confirmed their participation and to these others will be added, always maintaining the highest levels of talent and professionalism. Through the course of the years, an authentic relationship of friendship has grown among the participants in the Masterclasses, based not only on professional respect, but also on the sharing of our way of conceiving the relationship between professor and student. This is based around a particular attention to the students’ artistic growth, and also a great respect for their capacity to get involved, placing the Masterclasses of Narni among the best of these events on the international level.
For all of us, then, a fundamental element of the success of the Masterclasses is represented by the location of the courses within the suggestive and welcoming historic center of Narni, where it is possible to move around and get together easily and quickly without any logistical problems. There would, of course, be a need for more classrooms and possibly a larger space for the open air concert and I truly hope to be able to work out the best solutions to these questions in collaboration with the municipal administration of Narni.  The other scholarships of the festival have also been confirmed, beginning with the first and fundamental scholarship of the Province of Terni, along with the scholarship dedicated to the memory of Renato Chiesa .
To conclude, I wouldn’t be completely sincere if I didn’t give some voice to my economic worries about the Masterclasses. The Masterclasses have grown, as have the costs of presenting them and the economic crisis, which has unfortunately affected our administration, too, has not helped the situation. Now more than ever we need the attention and collaboration of the inhabitants, institutions and companies of the region .
Once again, I, on behalf of the International Masterclasses, would like to take this opportunity to officially thank the mayor of Narni, Dr. Francesco De Rebotti, the cultural assessor, Dr. Gianni Giombolini, and the cultural director Dr. Andreina Santicchia. The Masterclasses, organized by the Associazione Mozart Italia Sede di Terni (with the partnership of the Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg), have grown in the best of ways through our collaboration with the city of Narni. I would also like to thank the president of the CARIT foundation, Dr. Mario Fornaci, for his help with this growth and for the important support which has permitted us to carry our work forward. Thanks also go to the President of Regione Umbria Dott.ssa Marini and the cultural assessor Fernanda Cecchini, the president of the chamber of commerce, Dr. Giuseppe Flamini and the president of the Province of Terni, Dr. Giampiero Lattanzi.
I wait in hope that other sponsors, in light of the successes of our initiative, will also make themselves available to offer a contribution in spite of the crisis, which has made life more difficult for all of us. Many thanks also go out, natually, to our students, who represent the future of music, to our wonderful professors and to all of the city of Narni.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT ANAÏS LEE

It is with great joy and pride, but also with trepidation, that we announce the go-ahead for the sixth edition of the Masterclasses of Narni 2016.
Already 21 professors have enthusiastically confirmed their participation and to these others will be added, always maintaining the highest levels of talent and professionalism.
The most prestigious development also confirmed for this year, that which has certainly been the most exciting for us, is the scholarship of 1,000 EURO offered by the Society of Friends of the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. We are the only Italian organization to have received this prestigious recognition.
Thanks also go to the President of Regione Umbria Dott.ssa Marini and the cultural assessor Fabrizio Bracco, the president of the chamber of commerce, Dr. Enrico Cipiccia and the president of the Province of Terni, Dr. Leopoldo Di Girolamo.

In 2015, the International Festival Luci della Ribalta and the International Masterclasses, now in their 5th edition, will see fundamental consistency, as well as important innovations.

The principal location for International Masterclasses will remain Narni, as always. For years, now, the city of Narni in the summer has hosted students and professors alike, who will again be able to enjoy its historic and artistic beauty. The dimensions of the city also allow all participants to reach their classes and residences through a short walk. The location of Narni is also important, as it is situated in an area which is rich in historic attractions such as the nearby medieval hill towns or the nearby cities of Rome and Perugia, and also in natural attractions, like the famous Cascata delle Marmore, to which short tours can easily be organized.

The Associazione Mozart Italia, sede di Terni, will, as always, look after the organization of logistics, food and lodging during the festival, guaranteeing the students convenient and affordable arrangements and also allowing them to follow courses and lessons with important professors from various international musical institutions and granting them also to participate in many concerts organized ad hoc.

It will be a great event but a hard work too basing on the numbers for the previous edition which are particularly encouraging: 29 countries were involved, including Italy and students came from all five continents; more than 100 students participated, over twenty professors taught and, with students, staff, artists, and guests, there were more than 250 people who came to and stayed in Narni for this festival.,

Soon, and in any case before the beginning of March, it will be possible to refer to all related information on our website (which is currently being updated). For every eventuality, it is also possible to contact the Associazione Mozart Italia via our relevant addresses.

The 5th International Festival Luci della Ribalta will offer to all, both professors and students and also numerous guests artists alike, the proper stage to perform as soloists, chamber groups or in the orchestra, which is often directed by famous directors.
The 2014 edition of the Festival, which took place from the 11th to the 26th of August, will be remembered, in particular, for the large number of events that were offered to the public free of admission. The extraordinary quality of the events was deeply appreciated by the public which, other than the inhabitants of Narni, also saw a constant influx of tourists and spectators from the Province of Terni, the neighboring zones of Umbria, Abruzzo, Tuscany and even from Lazio. The presence of many foreigners at the festival was also notable. Citizens of over 20 countries participated in the festival, including the musical professors, their students, their families and people who were simply passionate about music, and didn’t want to miss the spectacle.

The 5th International Festival, as in the past, will see not only music as protagonist, but also arts, culture and entertainment with seminars, exhibitions and special events. Schedule of the Festival will be soon available on this website.
At the end, an important development this year is that the International Festival will be including other cities of the province, as well as the traditional seat of Narni, thus offering a greater audience, recognition and public participation to an event which has been in constant growth through the years.

The Associazione Mozart Italia, Sede di Terni’s latest concert to take place in the provincial capital will be on Monday, 17 December, 2012 at the Circolo Il Drago (Palazzo Canali-Morelli) at Largo Silvestri, 20. The concert will enjoy, as always, the generous support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Terni e Narni and of the Casse di Risparmio dell’Umbria. The protagonists of the evening, which concludes the 2012 concert year for the Mozart Association, will be soloists from the Ensemble del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. The eight soloists of the highest levels of the Roman theater will be: Calogero Palermo (clarinet), Eliseo Smordoni (basson), Carmine Pinto (horn), Francesco Malatesta e Barbara Agostinelli (violins), Paolo Finotti (viola), Andrea Bergamelli (cello) and Massimo Giorgi (contrabass). On the program is one of the most complex works of chamber music from the 1800s, the “Octet in F Major” Op. 166 D. 803 by Franz Schubert, considered a typical work of the Biedermeier period in Vienna. It is not by chance that the title of the event, “Schubert’s Octet in Biedermeier Vienna,” was chosen. The Biedermeier period, which corresponds in 1824 (the year of the work’s composition) to the style and climate of the capital, was more sober and conservative after The French Revolution and the Imperial Style. This was visible above all in the architecture and furniture design in use in the theaters, cafes, dance halls and public entertainments that animated the city. Schubert’s “Octet” covers the entire program, given its ample dimensions, which surpass an hour of uninterrupted and perfectly enjoyable music. It is unaffected by Romantic dualism, written along the lines of Beethoven’s famous “Settimino” and in general in the spirit of 18th Century fun. Internally, the work is divided into six well-articulated movements, and is moreover written in an atmosphere of positivity, freshness and typical Schubertian melodic happiness. After the outstanding success of its 2nd International Masterclasses in Narni, the Associazione Mozart Italia sede di Terni is proud to have continued its concertistic activities in Terni with a first performance at Circolo il Drago (Palazzo Abale-Morelli) Via Silvestri Ludovico 20, at 6:30 pm Sunday, the 2nd of December, which was realized with the support of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Terni e Narni and with Casse di Risparmio dell’Umbria. The title of this event, “On the Wings of Song” suggests the nature of the concert, which was dedicated entirely to melodrama. The protagonist of the concert was the soprano Jelena Bankovic who, apart from various recognitions obtained at the international level, also earned herself the “Premio Speciale” at the Masterclasses in 2012 for her exquisite technical and expressive interpretations. Ms. Bankovic was accompanied at the piano by Eunhye Jang, a brilliant instrumentalist who is specialized in collaborative accompaniment. Also present at the concert was the young virtuoso Aron Chiesa, who recently won the first prize at the Concorso Internazionale Clarinettistico Carlino (Udine). The program was occupied by the most charming vocal repertoire, touching the immortal works of Haendel, Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Massenet and Gounod. Also adorning the program is the famous Lied by Schubert for voice, clarinet and piano “Der Hirt auf dem Felsen.” In addition, the evening featured three original solos for clarinet from “I Capuletti e Montecchi” by Bellini, from “La Forza del Destino” and from the “Vespri Siciliani” by Verdi as well as the pianistic version of the famous “Danza” (Tarantella Napolitana) by Rossini.

The Associazione Mozart Italia sede di Terni chose the formula “Palace Music” for its 2012 concert season. The concerts took place in the historic Possenti-Castelli Palace, which was put at our disposal by its owners. The venue is capable of hosting events both indoors and outdoors, in its first-floor Salon and in its central courtyard. In concert with the intimate settings of these performances, the programs featured chamber music, both by soloists and by small performing groups. The inaugural concert featured the prestigious trumpetist Mauro Maur. The resounding tones of Mr. Maur’s trumpet also symbolically opened the concert season, which continues until December, with a calendar of planned events.

IL CD INCANTAMENTO E AMORE

The album "Enchantment and Love" was recorded, thanks to Diapason Recording Studio of Rome, on the 11th of February, 2011 at the church of San Francesco in Terni by Associazione Mozart Italia sede di Terni. Featured on the recording is the young clarinetist Aron Chiesa, who plays with the Musiches Gymnasium Salzburg, under the baton of Markus Obereder. The recording features the “Adagio” from Mozart’s Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra, K 622, Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra in C Minor op. 26 and in Antongiulio Priolo’s new arrangement for clarinet and orchestra of Piazzola’s “Libertango.” Also on the program is the “Divertimento” K 136 by Mozart, the second and fourth movement of Schumann’s Symphony No. 1, and extracts from two Suites from Grieg’s Peer Gynt. The CD is of the highest quality, and is particularly interesting because of the presence of the precise and enthusiastic youth orchestra (all under the age of 18) and because of the soloist, Aron Chiesa, who exhibits his gifts for both technical ability and musicality. The CD is available to all for a suggested donation of 8 Euro. For information, call 333.619.9827 or write to This email address is being protected from spambots.

The final event of 2011 for the Associazione Mozart Italia – Sede di Terni (in collaboration with the City of Terni) will take place on the twelfth of December at 9:00 pm in the Sala Blu of the Auditorium Gazzoli. The protagonists of this suggestively titled event will include the exceptional piano duo Stefano Micheletti and Marco Persichetti. The introduction to the concert will include improvisations on “Là ci darem la mano” (from Don Giovanni). The rest of the musical evening will be completely dedicated to the works of the renowned Jewish-American genius, who is among the most famous composers of the past century. The two Roman pianist-composers, who are both professors at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, have put together this fantastic program with an eye toward fantasy and an ear for the original. Their performances, which mix Gershwinian elements with the improvisational spirit of the jazz age, have already received unconditional praise from both the public and the critical press.

After its inaugural concert on December 3rd, 2010 with the “Trio Rèsonances”, which earned extraordinary public and critical acclaim, the Associazione Mozart Italia-sede di Terni returned with another important event, as part of the Valentinian Celebration, sponsored by the Terni Tourist Bueau. Guest of the evening was the Salzburg Orchestra Musisches Gymnasium under the direction of Markus Obereder, with the soloist participation of the 14-year-old clarinetist, Aron Chiesa. The concert program reflected a general lightness, in syntony with the valentine spirit, and with the aim of attracting a young public, in harmony with the atmosphere in the city during this period as well as with the youth of the fifty orchestra members and the solist virtuoso. From the opening Mozart “Divertimento” to the sublime “Adagio” of the “Concert for Clarinet”, from Schumann's “Symphony of Spring” to Weber's “Concertino” and Grieg's “Peer Gynt”, everything revolved around the themes of love, of tenderness, of youthful passion and of freedom. A professional recording of the event was made with the aim of producing a CD to support a project in the Pediatric Ward of the Terni Hospital of S. Maria. The well-known comic-strip artist, Fabio Vetturi was also present with his own original, extemporaneous contribution.
