TERNI IN LOVE WITH MUSIC10The Luci della Ribalta International Festival from 14 to 27 August, organized by the Mozart Italia Association in Terni in collaboration with the Municipality of Narni and the precious contribution of the Carit Foundation, is back for the tenth edition in Narni and Terni. The festival was born in 2010 with the energy and creativity of Anais Lee and Renato Chiesa, who have created a format capable of bringing international level artists to enhance the cultural heritage of the enchanting medieval village of Narni and some exclusive locations in Terni. The events consist of a succession of classical, chamber and solo music concerts, film screenings, dance performances, theater and exhibitions.
This 2020 edition will be very special, considering the complex period that we have all experienced in the past few months due to the spread of Covid-19. Despite initially there was a great insecurity about the feasibility of the event, thanks to the foresight and will of Anais Lee President and Artistic Director of the Mozart Italia Association Terni, with the support of the municipal administrations of Narni, citizens and the guest artists, this whole project took shape with exceptional innovations. Also 3 important anniversaries will be celebrated: the 250 years since the birth of Beethoven, the 100 years since the birth of Bruch and the 250 years since the transit of Mozart through Terni and Narni.
The inaugural concert of 14 August will take place at San Domenico-Auditorium Bortolotti in Narni and will feature the renowned musician Natalino Ricciardo, first horn of the orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Torino. In the same location on August 19th there will be the Grand Gala Beethoven where we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth. An excellent ensemble will perform: an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the highest musical quality by the international scenario. We will have on stage soloists of the Santa Cecilia orchestra, the Teatro Regio di Torino, the Sinfonieorchester of Basel and other soloists of great thickness, to perform the Beethoven Septet.
Among the many high-profile international guests who will perform we mention Carlo Parazzoli, Francesco Bossone, Gabriele Geminiani, Emanuele Segre, Geneviève Strosser, Patrick Jüdt, David Eggert, Giuliano Sommerhalder, Aida Carmen Soanea, Salvatore Vella, Samuele Sciancalepore, Aron Chiesa, Michelangelo Carbonara, Milica Jovičić, Néstor Losán and Alessandro Viale.
The Festival's program also includes space for young talents already established in the European music scene, such as the award-winning EOS Quartet, Gianluigi Caldarola, Martina Santarone, Camilla Pilla Arnese and Antonino Fiumara.
Among the many new features there are two exceptional locations located in Terni. One is the splendid Palazzo Pressio Colonnese, which Ms Emilia Riffelli Bartolucci generously decided to share on the occasion of our evening of August 24th. There will be a show on Don Giovanni with singers and actors, directed by Maestro Anais Lee and Maestro Matteo Tarasco, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Mozart's transit through Terni and Narni. The second location is the plateau of Sant’ Erasmo di Cesi, located at 1120 meters above sea level: here on August 16 at sunset, an evocative performance of musical improvisation and dance will take place, completely immersed in nature. The colors of the setting sun will merge with the notes of the musicians and with the movements of the dancers.
A very evocative moment will also be the chamber concert on August 21 in memory of Maestro Renato Chiesa, creator and promoter of this Festival, who died prematurely 7 years ago.
There will be multi-artistic and multi-experiential evenings, such as on August 15 and 22, in which music, dance, theatrical performances, improvisations and tastings of wines and typical products, will merge to enhance both the artistic and musical heritage, and the history and Umbrian culture. We create it with the Association Produttori Ciliegiolo of Narni, which for years has supported us with its great quality. All this will take place in accordance with the prevention rules for the spread of Covid-19.
Spazio World is back again this year: an event dedicated to distant cultures, confirmed again for this year with South Korea, which has been enchanting the public with its peculiarities for 3 years now. Following the huge success of the Oscar-winning film "Parasite", on August 25 we will project "A Taxi Driver" in Piazza dei Priori. The protagonist of the film is the winner of numerous awards already in the film of "Parasite".
Let's not forget to give space to the talent of the Umbrian artists, which we will exhibit with great pleasure in collaboration with the ArteM Cultural Association.
On August 26th from 9.30 pm there will be a very special evening at the Cloister of S. Agostino in Narni: the Gran Gala. As per our tradition, it is a musical marathon in which singers, soloists and ensembles of the highest profile will perform. During the evening there will be a tribute to the recent death of Maestro Ennio Morricone.
At the end of the Festival on August 27th, to our great joy there will be a very special evening between toasts, theatrical performances and singing, created by the director Matteo Tarasco.
All events are free of charge, and in accordance with the rules to counter the spread of Covid-19, reservations are obligated, the mask for entry to events and respect for the interpersonal distance of at least one meter are required.
