Ivan Rabaglia, born in 1971, has been the violinist of the Parma Trio since its establishment in 1990. He graduated with top marks, honors and honorable mention from the “A. Boito" of his city and perfected his skills with Franco Gulli, Stefan Gheorghiu, Giuliano Carmignola, Pavel Vernikov, Ilya Grubert, Zinaida Gilels, the Trio di Trieste (Dario De Rosa, Renato Zanettovich, Amedeo Baldovino) and with Isaac Stern at Chamber Music New York Workshops.
Together with his colleagues from the Trio, Alberto Miodini and Enrico Bronzi, he won 1st prize at the 16th Vittorio Gui International Competition in Florence in 1992, 2nd prize at the 2nd Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 1995, 2nd prize at the 47th Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD Mün-chen in 1998 (1st not awarded), 1st prize at the 1st Concours International of the Musique de Chambre de Lyon in 2004 and obtained the “Abbiati” prize from Italian music critics in 1994.
The activity carried out with the Trio has led Ivan Rabaglia to play for the most important Italian and foreign musical institutions: Accademia di S. Cecilia in Rome, Società del Quartetto di Milano, Amici della Musica in Florence, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Unione Musicale of Turin, Amici della Musica of Palermo, Philharmonic of Berlin, Konzerthaus of Vienna, Wigmore Hall of London, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall of New York, Salle Molière of Lyon, Performance Arts Center of Moscow, Philharmonic of St. Petersburg, Theater Colón of Buenos Aires and international festivals including Lockenhaus (Austria), Luzern (Switzerland), Melbourne (Australia), Sligo (Ireland), Lake District (England), Bad Kissingen (Germany), Cartagena (Colombia), Orta and Portogruaro ( Italy).
He has played with illustrious musicians including Bruno Giuranna, Simonide Braconi, Simone Briatore, Alessandro Carbonare, Fabrizio Meloni, Eduard Brunner, Guglielmo Pellarin, Wolfgang Holzmair and as a soloist with conductors such as Vladimir Delman, Angelo Campori, Carl Melles, Franco Petracchi, Hubert Soudant and Anton Nanut.
In addition to numerous radio recordings for the most important Italian, English, German, American and Australian broadcasters, he also has a recording activity which includes the complete Brahms Trios and the op. 65 by Dvořák for UNICEF, the complete trios and Triple Concerto by Beethoven, the Trio and Sonatas by Ravel, the sonata and guitar trio by Giuliani for the magazine Amadeus, the first world recording of De Fossa's quartets, Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango, Shostakovich's Trios and Romances for the Stradivarius label with which he won the award for best album of the year 2008 from the Classic Voice magazine, the complete trio for Pizzetti, Liszt, Schumann and Dvorak for the Concerto label, Schubert for Decca and the Tchaikovsky trio, live recording at the Wigmore Hall in London, for the Movimento Classical house.
He taught chamber music at the Scuola Internazionale del Trio di Trieste in Duino and at the Scuola di Fiesole. Already a violin professor at the “Vecchi-Tonelli” Musical Institute in Modena, he continued
his teaching activity at the "Guido Cantelli" Conservatory of Novara, at the "Arrigo Boito" Conservatory of Parma and currently at the "Santa Cecilia" National Academy of Rome. In addition to this prestigious role, he combines courses and masterclasses in the Academies of Biella, Pinerolo and Portogruaro .
He plays a Giuseppe Baldantoni violin built in Ancona in 1850.
