Ludovico Tramma graduated in violin, viola as well as post-graduate study in chamber music all with highest distinction at the Conservatory "S. Cecilia " in Roma with maestros A. Salvatore, B. Antonioni, M. Lenzi and then with G. Prencipe and G. Franzetti. He was a permanent member of EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra) and was concertmaster of the Italian Youth Orchestra. He was awarded the prestigious "diploma of honour" in the string quartet course with M° Farulli at the School of Music in Fiesole and at the Chigiana Academy in Siena in 1993-1995. He won first prize in the National Competition of Chamber Music "Vittorio Veneto, the second prize (no first prize was awarded) in the International Competition of Chamber Music in Caltanissetta and the second prize at the International Competition Rotary in Cremona, all in the category of String Quartet. He was invited to participate in the courses of Chamber Music at the Chigiana with Maestro R. Brengola and in 1997 won a scholarship to participate to the International Festival of Okinawa in Japan. In 1996-1997 he was a scholarship student at the Rowan University in New Jersey (U.S.A.), studying violin with Mrs. Ciulei-Atanasiu. As a scholarship student in the Banff Festival in Canada he competed in the Banff Festival in Canada with the Italian pianist Fiammetta Facchini. As a duo, they were awarded the second prize and the Special Prize for the best Violin and Piano Duo at the National Competition of Chamber Music "S. Fuga” in Torino and the fifthprize at the “Trapani International Competition”. He won, moreover, the competition for violin sections as well as leader of the second violin section at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari. In 2001 he won the Special Prize for the best execution of Sonata of Hindemith at the “Vittorio Veneto” National Competition and the third prize at the International Competition "Coast of the Conero" in Ancona. In 2002 he was the third prize winner at the “Lucus” Chamber Music competition in Potenza. In November 2001, he won the competition for the violin section in the Teatro dell’Opera in Roma (Italy) where he continues like “assistant-concertmaister” of second violin section. He has toured France, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Canada, U.S.A., Australia, Japan, Greece, Arab Emirates and Czech Rrepublic either as a soloist or as a member of a chamber music ensemble, and has recorded for Dynamic, Decca and Dygital. In 2007 he recorded, with Fiammetta Facchini, a CD for Afinaudio (Portugal) with the sonata in d minor by Schumann and the sonata op.47 “Kreutzer” by Beethoven, in 2008 recorded a CD “Violin and Piano play opera!”, also for Afinaudio (Portugal) and in 2009 they recorded a CD "The Duo Tramma Facchini celebrating!" with the Sonata in G major by Brahms, the Sonata in F major by Mendelssohn and the Ciaccona by Bach/Mendelssohn. He completed his PhD in Music/Performance with a thesis entitled "Sfilio's Method and the awareness of the violinist's left hand" at the University of Aveiro (2015, Portugal), by unanimity, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. David Wyn Lloyd. He took part in an important Congress related with Performance, presenting his paper in in Kyoto (ISPS, 2015 - International Symposium Performing Science) and in the Congress PAMA 2016 (Performing Arts Medicine Association) in New York. He was Professor in Portugal, Professor of Violin at the Superior Conservatory in Cuneo, Professor of Chamber Music at the Superior Conservatory of Messina and Professor of Violin at the Superior Conservatory in Teramo, Benevento, Mantova and Piacenza. Currently he is Professor of Violin at the Superior Conservatory in Turin (Italy). He plays a violin made by Enrico Politi (1910), a copy of Gaetano Guadagnini (Torino 1852).
