Born in Pesaro, he graduated with honors and special mention of honor;
he studied with W. Di Stefano, M. Cazacu, W. Grimmer, M. Scano and followed master classes at the 'Accademia Chigiana' in Siena with M. Maisky and A. Meneses and chamber music with the Trio di Trieste, Chamber Music courses at the 'Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola with P. N. Masi, and at the 'Academy "Angelica Constantiniana " with K. Bogino and still courses with P. Vernikov and A. Menieur.
He has performed as soloist with several orchestras such O. R. T.,
Orchestra dell' Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Pomeriggi Musicali, performing most the solo repertoire with conductors such as G. Ferro,
W. Nelsson, Myung Whun Chung, K. Nagano, Sir A. Pappano, C. Poppen,
G. Pehlivanian.
He also performed in the Italian premiere of HK Gruber cello concerto under the direction of the composer and for the first time in the history of Orchestra dell' Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Gulda cello concerto under the direction of K. Jarvi.
In 1997, in Paris, at the international competition "M.Rostropovich" he received the special prize for the best performance of the piece "Spins and Spells" by K. Saariaho and in October of 2002 he was invited to performing again in Paris on the occasion of the twenty-five birthday's of
the competition with the winners of previous editions under the direction of Rostropovich.
In 1998 he won the competition for principal cello at the O. R. T. in Florence and in1999 won the competition for principal cello at the Orchestra dell 'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the place he still holds.
He has worked as a principal cello with La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart and Luzern Festival Orchestra
invited by Claudio Abbado.
Also works for several years with the Human Rights Orchestra
created in defense of human rights.
He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as M. -Whun Chung, G. Sinopoli, W. Sawallisch, Y. Temirkanov, L. Maazel, C. Abbado, R. Muti, G. Pretre, M. Rostropovich, D. Gatti, G. Dudamel, V. Gergiev, K. Masur, Sir J. E. Gardiner, B. Haitink etc. ....
and always with Chung, A. Lonquich, A. Carbonare, Y. Kikuchi, S. Shoji,
R. Christ, L. Kavakos, M. Brunello, M. Argerich, G. Braunstein,
D. Wasckiewicz, G. Campaner in chamber music performances.
He playing in some of the most prestigious concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie; Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Royal Albert Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam; Vienna Musikverein, KKL Lucerne and in the most prestigious Italian theaters.
Instrumental to his work alongside that of teaching as a professor of Cello in various courses throughout Italy and was Professor of Cello for the master's degree from Conservatory of Music "S. Cecilia" in Rome.
He recorded for Decca and La Bottega Discantica
Plays a cello "Carlo Giuseppe Oddone" of 1903.
